Reigning Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) premiers Sydney Thunder will return to Penrith on December 16 to kick start the summer school holidays with a free cricket match.

The Thunder take on the Melbourne Stars in an exciting fourth-round WBBL clash at Howell Oval on starting at 1pm, with a free family-friendly event kicking off an hour beforehand with meet and greet activities, face painting, prizes, giveaways and food trucks selling a variety of cuisine.

Penrith Mayor John Thain was looking forward to a great day.

“There is no better way to start the school holidays than with a thrilling game of Australia’s most popular summer sport. The best part is that you don’t have to travel anywhere to be part of the action, and you can watch it all for free,” Cr Thain said.

“Penrith Council is proud to be partnering with leading sporting organisations to bring world-class events to Penrith for all ages to enjoy. I encourage everyone to go along and join in the fun of the day.”

Players will be signing merchandise before the match.
