A 17-year-old has been arrested for allegedly shining a laser at the NSW Police helicopter in Penrith.
The Polair helicopter was flying over Penrith about 11.30pm on November 10 as part of a proactive patrol when it was targeted by a laser, a police statement said.
“The crew of the helicopter notified police on the ground and an investigation was commenced,” the statement said.
“A short time later, following investigations, police from Penrith Local Area Command located the teen hiding in the backyard of a home on Reserve Street.
“The 17-year-old boy was arrested and the laser pointer was seized.”
The youth was taken to Penrith police station where he was interviewed and later released. He will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act, police stated.
