CREEPY clowns will walk through 10 north-west Sydney suburbs this Saturday to mark the release of IT.

IT is a movie adapted from Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel, which features the clown Pennywise as one of the main characters.

Pennywise, also known as IT, preys on children in King’s story.

The movie has been a hit in Australia, recording more than $6 million in box office ticket sales since being released last week.

Clown Purge Sydney, who made the clown announcement via Facebook, said its clowns will not hurt anyone.

“We're not here to harm, only here for a laugh and a good time,” Clown Purge Sydney stated.

The clowns will be walking through Crestwood (Baulkham Hills), Rouse Hill, Kellyville, The Ponds, Blacktown, Rooty Hill, Penrith, St Marys, Emu Plains and Mount Druitt.
