Woman charged after allegedly setting toilet paper alight in sink

A woman who allegedly set fire to toilet paper she had placed in the sink of a women’s toilet before contacting triple zero has been charged by police.

The woman entered female toilets at Penrith Paceway about 6pm on September 9, where she allegedly gathered an amount of toilet paper, placed it in a hand basin and set it alight, a Penrith police spokesman said.

At 6.07pm she allegedly contacted triple zero and stated she had started a fire, he said.

NSW Fire and Rescue attended and the fire was extinguished a short time later.

Police attended and located the woman, and she was arrested and taken to Penrith police station where she allegedly threatened to light more fires.

A 26-year-old Merrylands woman has been charged with damaging property by fire.
