Footage sought from Cranebrook brawl

Baseball bats, bottles and steel poles were used during a brawl at Cranebrook on Monday night, which saw three men taken to hospital.

The brawl broke out about 8pm on Monday at Martley Way, Cranebrook.

It’s alleged one group was drinking in the residential area when another group of up to 10 men arrived with baseball bats, bottles and steel poles, said Penrith Detective Chief Inspector Grant Healey.

During the brawl, three men from Cranebrook, aged between 20 and 24, were injured, requiring hospital treatment.

One man sustained a stomach wound requiring surgery, another sustained an injury to his leg, and the third suffered a head wound.

No-one has been charged and police are calling for any footage from the scene or for witnesses to come forward.

Car fires

Police are appealing for more information following three deliberately lit car fires over the weekend.

Cars were set alight in Russell St, Emu Plains at 10.30pm on April 14, at 1.20am on April 15 at Penrith Railway Station carpark, and at 11.15pm on April 15 at Kiaka Cres, South Penrith.

Stolen backpack

A 39-year-old Penrith man will face court on five charges next month after it’s alleged he took a person’s backpack from a pub in Station St, Penrith.

The incident occurred about 1.30pm on Sunday, with police called to Penrith Railway Station due to reports of a man in a drug-affected state.

Det Chief Insp Healey said police found the man at the station with two backpacks. He was charged with stealing, damage property, resist police, possess prohibited drug and goods in custody and will appear before Penrith Local Court on May 16.

Hospital theft

A 39-year-old Penrith man was seen acting suspiciously in the emergency department of Nepean Hospital at 1am on Monday.

He was asked to leave and police were called, catching up with him on the street where they found a number of items in his possession.

“Police spoke to him and found stolen documentation from the hospital … and medical equipment used at the hospital,” Det Chief Insp Healey said.

The man was charged with stealing and will face Penrith Local Court on May 16.

Tools taken

Tools were stolen from a hardware store on Castlereagh Rd, Penrith, about 8.30pm on April 13.

Police searched a 30-year-old Werrington Downs man’s car and found the stolen property. The man will face Penrith court on May 4.
