Two people charged after sawn-off shotgun located by police

Police have charged two people after locating a sawn-off shotgun in Kingswood yesterday.

About 11.30pm on March 16, officers attached to St Marys Local Area Command were patrolling Somerset Street when they attempted to speak with two males.

The two males allegedly ran away from police and one threw a loaded sawn-off shotgun into a park.

Officers arrested the two people, aged 22 and 17, on Rodgers Street, Kingswood, and they were taken to St Marys Police Station.

The 17-year-old youth and 22-year-old man were charged with possessing a loaded firearm in public place, and possessing a shortened firearm.

The teenager was refused bail and will appear before a Children’s Court later today, March 17.

The 22-year-old man was refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court at a later date.
