Golf raises $5000

MORE than 100 people attended the Penrith Chamber of Commerce and Penrith Council Business Connections golf day on Friday, October 19.

The annual event held at Penrith Golf Club attracted members from businesses and companies within the area.

There were members from the Penrith Business Alliance, UWS and TAFE, as well as a range of small business owners and employees.

There were more golf enthusiasts at this year's event, a total of 95 people played on the greens.

Those not playing golf also attended the lunch and were a part of the activities that raised money for the charity, United Way Penrith Community Fund.

Robert Glascott, a chamber of commerce executive committee member, said it was important for businesses in the area to seize the opportunity to network and form strong relationships.

"It's two things for us: it's a way of getting business together for more than an hour at an time, and it's a chance to raise awareness of community charities," he said.

"It gives stakeholders and business owners in Penrith time to get to know each other better and allows them to network."

An estimated amount of $5000 was raised at the event and will be donated to the Penrith Community Fund.
