CONSIDERING the glut of gyms to choose from, how do you know which gym is right for you?
Two Anytime Fitness members explained how they made their decisions.
Joshua Pagan, who has been going to gyms for 10 years, has noticed the spike in fitness centres, but said it wasn't only flexible hours that made a gym more attractive.
"A lot of the other gyms were full of kids and machines were being taken for a long period of time, but they are over 18s here," he said.
"A lot of it comes down to the people who come to the gym.
"I believe in the positive energy that floats through the place and the attitude of the people."
While Pagan is an experienced gym user, Hayley Mosley is only into her second week sweating it out.
"I think a lot of the other gyms will start opening 24 hours soon," she said.
"The fact that this one is open 24 hours is important because I work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm."
Mosley said she would prefer to exercise outdoors but the modern lifestyle - particularly in winter - made it hard and gyms were the best and safest option.
She said cost made a difference, too.
"It was cheap and had the best options. It's got more equipment than a lot of the other gyms and everything is brand new so it's clean and tidy," Mosley said.
