Ella enchanted

Ella Tofaeono, 15, has been chosen for the Australian under-17s squad which is preparing for next year's FIBA under-17s world championships. Ella had a fantastic under-16s nationals, finishing as equal top-scorer, and will now travel to Canberra for her first Australian camp at the end of October. Hopefully, Ella will impress the coaching staff enough to be kept in the squad for the second camp and a real chance at playing for Australia next year.

Louis, Ben impress

Louis Brandt has been offered a development spot with the NBL Sydney Kings for the 2013/2014 season. Louis and Ben Kearins were both nominated by Penrith Basketball to attend these trials and reports back from Kings coach Shane Heal were very positive for both players with both being kept in the system right down to the wire.

Five selected

Ben Kearins, Nic Pozoglou, Emily Potts, Kelli Sims and Ashling O'Doherty have all been selected to work with national under-19s coach Damian Cotter at the NSW Institute of Sport.

Dynamic Duncan

Gavin Duncan was at his mercurial best as Blue Mountains beat a defiant Blacktown. In other suburban Rugby results, the talented Jason de Joux took man-of-the-match honours when Hawkesbury Valley beat The Hills and UWS scored an upset but well-deserved two-point victory over Hornsby to stay right in premiership calculations.
