Panthers re-form

Penrith NRL coach Ivan Cleary will have his first look at the many recruits in his squad during next month's trial games.

The Panthers tackle a combined NSW Cup and national youth competition Wests Tigers outfit on Friday, February 8, at Carrington Park, Bathurst.

The club's next trial is an away game against the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday, February 16, at Waikato Stadium.

Penrith will then tackle Parramatta in the Battle of the West at Centrebet Stadium, the club's home ground, on Saturday, February 23.

Coach Cleary has 15 new faces in the full-time squad this season.

On the departure side, the Panthers have lost 10 players from their 2012 squad, including NSW Origin footballers Luke Lewis and Michael Jennings.

Skipper Lewis was released from the final year of his contract and has signed with Cronulla.

Jennings departed last week joining with the Sydney Roosters, after being released from the final year of his deal.

Penrith's opening NRL game is against Canberra at Centrebet Stadium, on Sunday, March 10 at 2pm.

The NRL season kick-off is Thursday, March 7.
