Penrith rural residents should be prepared for summer bushfires.
Cumberland Zone Rural Fire Service Superintendent Richard Petch said Castlereagh, Wallacia, Mulgoa, Erskine Park and Llandillo would most likely be affected by bushfires.
He said residents need a survival plan to be prepared.
"We have urban interface properties that will come under threat quicker," he said.
"We are still on the fringe, and fires do come from the Blue Mountains down to Penrith.
"A survival plan is a very important thing for people to have.
"They should make a plan and work out what they want to do."
He also said despite the wet weather fire warnings are still in place.
"At the moment we're sitting predominantly on a high fire warning," he said.
"I think people living in Penrith should be cautious. We live in a very open area and we have lots of grass and bushland."
